Overview

Position Title: Logistics & Routing Analyst
Location: Remote (candidates in EST or open to working EST-aligned hours preferred)
Status: 1099 contract through 2025 with potential for full-time hire 
Salary: $36-$45/hour (1099)

Purpose of the Role: 

The Logistics Routing Analyst will serve as a critical contributor to the success of our logistics and field operations by focusing on the optimization of routing strategies, tools, and execution. This role will prioritize maximizing operational efficiency, service delivery, and route planning through advanced use of Omnitracs/Roadnet systems and routing data. You will work cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to engineer scalable routing solutions, reduce mileage and drive time, and enhance customer experience through strategic logistical improvements.  

Key Responsibilities:

Routing Optimization (Primary Focus)

  • Lead the analysis, design, and enhancement of daily and seasonal routing processes to improve service delivery and reduce operational costs.
  • Use Omnitracs/Roadnet and other routing platforms to design optimal route plans that account for traffic patterns, resource constraints, and customer time windows.
  • Partner with branch leadership and dispatch teams to implement and monitor route effectiveness and recommend strategic adjustments.

Technology & Systems Integration

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Omnitracs/Roadnet, ensuring full utilization of system capabilities.
  • Lead configuration, data integration, and training efforts for routing software in alignment with evolving business needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve routing accuracy and efficiency using telematics, GPS, and real-time data feeds.

Process Improvement & Analytics

  • Evaluate current route planning workflows to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and cost drivers.
  • Develop routing KPIs (e.g., stops per hour, miles per stop, utilization rates) and dashboards to monitor performance and guide decision-making.
  • Conduct what-if analyses, simulations, and scenario planning to test and validate improvements before deployment.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Operations, Field, and IT teams to ensure alignment between routing strategies and real-world execution.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations for seasonal ramp-ups, territory realignments, and new market entry planning.

Reporting & Communication

  • Create routine and ad hoc reports on routing performance, cost savings, and improvement initiatives.
  • Present findings and strategies to leadership, branch managers, and stakeholders with clear business impact narratives.

Decision-Making Authority

  • Where expertise has been established, can proceed autonomously
  • Partner with Director of Routing accordingly

Qualifications for this Role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in logistics or route optimization roles.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Omnitracs, Roadnet, or equivalent route planning platforms.
  • Strong foundation in process optimization methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Proficient in analytical tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI, and GIS mapping.
  • Ability to interpret data into practical routing solutions that drive results.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
